Test tournaments

gbuijs
Hi,

We would like to run a test tournament in the first or second week of december.
If you'd like to participate, please specify which date would be preferable for you.
We'll start either monday november 30th or monday december 7th.

We'll try to do a test tournament every 6-8 weeks until the 2016 finals.
So the next test will be at the end of january.

We're aiming to keep the game sizes fixed on 3-5-8 for both test, qualifying and finals.

Cheers,

Govert

hi, I am a newbie,
may I know the tourneyUrl to login?
I had try:
1) http://wolf-08.fbk.eur.nl:8080/TournamentScheduler/faces/brokerLogin.jsp
it shows:
Parsing message..
login reponse: [#document: null]
Recieved Done Message no more games!
Max attempts reached...shutting down

2) http://tac01.cs.umn.edu:8080/TournamentScheduler/faces/brokerLogin.jsp
it shows
java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code:504

3) the default one, http://192.168.3.101:8080/TournamentScheduler/faces/brokerLogin.jsp
but 192.168.3.101 should be the local address...
it also shows
java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code:504

Hope someone could help :(

Thanks,
Phi

Re: Test tournaments

gbuijs
Hi,

The first URL is correct, but the problem is with the tournament name.
You're logging in with : 2015_12_lvl0
That is the level name, not the tournament name.

You should use : 2015_12

Also, remember to start your broker with the --repeat-count option,
else your broker will stop after the first game.

Cheers,

Govert

Thanks,
the result now change to:
Tournament: 2015_12
Parsing message..
login response: [#document: null] <--(may i know what does it mean?)
Retry message received for : 60 seconds

does it mean that I am still cannot login?

Thank you very much

Re: Test tournaments

gbuijs
Hi,

This is the correct response.
The server is telling your broker that there aren't any games to play at the moment.
It will retry every 60 seconds until a game your broker should participate in will start.

Hi Govert:

We cannot visualize the games using:
wolf-06.fbk.eur.nl:8080/visualizer/wolf04
or
wolf-04.fbk.eur.nl:8080/visualizer/wolf07

Can you check if visualizer is online ?

Thanks in advance

Re: Test tournaments

Hi Govert,

We are having some problem after initial slot 360 when run our broker in the tournament. This problem does not appear when we run the broker in a local server.

The broker report is:

worker thread waited more than 120 secs for server, abandoning game
[INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------
[INFO] BUILD SUCCESS
[INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------
[INFO] Total time: 02:31 h
[INFO] Finished at: 2015-12-07T11:35:35-06:00
[INFO] Final Memory: 22M/956M
[INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you have any idea, tips or reason of this problem?

thanks,

Ansel

RE: Test tournaments

Hi Ansel,

Could you tell me which game this is?
There's something strange : the run time says 2:31h.
BUt if the game breaks after TS 360 that  shouldn't take more then a few minutes (if that).

Also, i'm seeing some network errors in game 95, so flaky network might be a problem.

RE: Test tournaments

Ansel
Hi Govert,

The problem happens in all of games. The activate method is not executed for several timeslots (near to the first (360). We think that the problem is related with the net latency.

The time available for each time slot is divided in two times: the connection time and the time used by the broker. When we use, the sampleBroker as COLDChristmas2015, we don´t have problem (the activate is run for each timeslot). In this case time used by the broker for each time slot is minimum.

But, if we use COLDChristmas2015, or the same broker of PowerTAC2015, that use more broker time, then the problem appears. However our PowerTAC2015 broker does not had the problem on PowerTAC2015 tournament.

A conclusion is: now we are having an increased net latency with respect to the net latency of the PowerTAC2015 tournament.

Now, we are trying to measure the connection time and the net latency.

On the hand, ¿Can you say us how we can install a tournament server to do more experiments?

Thanks in advance

Ansel
